BMW is aiming to return to the mainstream with its second-generation SUV, the 530i.
The new 530i is the company’s biggest SUV yet, boasting an engine-change-ready 3.0-litre V6 and an 8.7-litres V8 engine, with a range-topping 1,500km on tap.
Key features:• Power is delivered through a turbocharged, four-cylinder engine that’s paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission.• The 5.0L twin-turbo engine produces 746bhp (534kW) and 430Nm (6.3kW).• The 530i has a range of more than 100km, with the option of a 12-valve eight-cylindered petrol engine or a twin-cam petrol engine.• A six-speed manual transmission is standard on the 530s.
The 570i is a completely different beast, but the BMW is using the same platform to deliver a range that is more than double that of its bigger sibling.
The BMW 530 is powered by a twin turbocharged 4.0litre engine, the BMW 5 Series Twin Turbo engine.
The 530i engine is a twin twin-cylinders engine, producing 746lb-ft (532Nm).
The BMW 570i diesel is a diesel, producing 631lb-f/3,000rpm.
The 5 Series is an inline six-cyliler, producing 3,200hp and 470Nm of torque.
The 540i, 5 Series, and 530i diesel are all available with either a petrol or diesel engine, though it is the 5 Series diesel that is expected to be offered first.
The 520i is an all-electric car with a claimed range of 155km (93.5 miles) on tap, but there are no figures on how long the BMW can go without one.
The 510i is not a hybrid, but it does have a hybrid mode, which means it can take a mix of petrol and diesel fuel depending on the conditions.
The 560i is also an electric vehicle, with petrol being available on the car’s CVT.
The 525i is rated at a range for the 520i of 155 kilometres (93 miles), while the 530 is rated to offer 160km (92.3 miles).
It is also not clear whether the 530is petrol or petrol plus diesel, but if the 530’s petrol and the 530 are hybrids, then the 520’s petrol is rated for 155km and the 510’s petrol for 160km.
The range of the 570i will depend on whether you are buying the 5 series or the 520 series.
