Now available in the US, the 2020 BMW M8 Competition Car is the first BMW M car to compete in the 2020 M2 competition, and the first competition BMW car to feature an aluminum body and aluminum wheels.
The M8 is a BMW M3, a successor to the M3 that debuted in 2006.
The BMW M4 and M5 were also competitors, but the M8 debuted in 2011 and featured a more compact body, lighter, and wider rear wheelbase.
The M8 also debuted in 2020, the same year BMWs M line was discontinued.
It is also the first competitor to feature a carbon fiber body.
The 2019 M3 and M4 were both produced with carbon fiber, while the M6 and M7 are also produced with composite body.BMW says the 2019 M8 will be available in two trim levels.
The base trim features a 2.0L turbocharged inline-six, and comes with a standard four-speed manual transmission.
The Sport and Tour trim will offer an optional four-wheel drive system and sport steering.BMWs M8 competition car is expected to go on sale in 2019.
