Mercedes AMGs W05 will debut its new “Sport” model at the Geneva Motor Show next week.
The new car is based on the Mercedes AMGB and will be Mercedes’ first production car to use the brand’s latest hybrid technology.
Mercedes said it’s designed to be a “competitive competitor” to the new BMW i8.
Mercedes AMG’s Sport W05 looks similar to the Mercedes-AMG GT R Concept unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show last month.
It’s a five-door hatchback that Mercedes says offers more “sports utility” than its GT-R sibling.
The car is set to be Mercedes-produced by AMG in a new plant in Wurzburg, Germany, with the car expected to be available to the public in the first quarter of 2019.
The W05, which will be powered by an AMG V6 petrol engine, will sport a six-speed manual transmission and has a price tag of $140,000, according to the brand.
It will debut at the Paris Motor Show in early 2019, Mercedes said.
